This position is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and is a one-year contract with the possibility of extension or permanent employment.
The role:
We at the Legal team manage all groups' legal issues across 100+ jurisdictions, mostly in emerging markets, with a focus on data privacy, tech, and contractual matters. We actively work with stakeholders in the group to structure processes and policies to ensure compliance with applicable data privacy and other relevant legislation.
As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be part of our global legal team, where you’ll work closely with our product teams to ensure and develop data security, data privacy, and data protection in all aspects of our products. You will also assist with general legal matters, including contracts and intellectual property, within the company.
What you’ll do:
- Act as a legal advisor to business, product, and engineering teams, balancing legal risk with business objectives
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, licensing, partnership, and data protection contracts
- Advise on product and technology matters, including data use, AI/ML, user-generated content, platform terms, and privacy-by-design requirements
- Lead data privacy and regulatory compliance efforts by developing and implementing policies, processes, and training aligned with applicable laws
- Manage product-related intellectual property matters, including protection strategies and risk mitigation
- Handle disputes, legal escalations, and government inquiries, coordinating with external counsel as needed
- Support corporate and strategic initiatives such as partnerships and market expansion, while improving legal operations and internal processes
What you bring in:
- Strong academic credentials and a law degree
- Specialized and hold a minimum of 5+ years of legal experience, ideally working with data privacy and/or commercial / technology contracts
- Strong knowledge and skills in data protection and privacy laws, both in Europe and internationally, and also in commercial law, with an emphasis on IT-related matters
- Extensive background in data privacy regulations and legislation
- Experience working with data privacy in a law firm or a tech company
- Experience working in various jurisdictions
- A solution-oriented and proactive approach, excellent communication, and organizational skills
- Great communication skills in English
It would be great if you also have:
- Experience from emerging markets and the policy framework
- An interest in tech or experience from working in a tech company
- Swedish or Indian law degree

Recruiter Interview

Next, you’ll meet with members of the team in a video or onsite interview, depending on the role and your location. This step helps both sides understand how you collaborate, communicate, and approach real-world challenges.

Hiring Manager Interview & Offer Process
In this final step, you’ll meet with one or two hiring managers for a deeper discussion about your experience, working style, and the expectations of the role. Candidates who move forward will receive an offer. After acceptance, we complete routine reference and background checks before confirming your start date and onboarding details.
